We are seeing more tender opportunities this year for care homes and retirement specific complexes – a style of project where we have some real expertise with projects both recently completed and currently on site.
Many of these schemes mirror high end apartment complexes and often come with associated shared spaces. Specification of product is very important on retirement living apartments, as the sale and resale values often have a premium over un-supported apartments.
With Care Homes there is a similarity in some ways to hotel projects, with generous suites making up a large part of the accommodations.
With a large shortage nationally of long-term accommodation options for an aging population, this is surely a sector with some real potential.
